Oscar’s Photo Lab was founded in 1982 by Noubar Oscar Demirjian.
After working for his father during summer breaks and after school Vartan went in to the family business full-time after graduating from San Francisco State University in 1992. The father-and-son team moved to their 4000 square foot Brannan St. location in 1995.
In March of 2011 the lab was severely damaged by an early morning fire and was closed for nearly a year due to construction.
The remodeled business reopened on March 20, 2012 with state of the art equipment and renewed enthusiasm to serve the photographic needs of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
My father taught me the skills I needed to make beautiful photographs in the darkroom. We now use digital processes to print, but we stand by the same high quality standards to make sure each image printed is something my father would be proud of.
